A New Initiative In Education

"I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power."

~ Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Jarvis (Sept 28, 1820)

The Authority We Give Schools

Over The Molding Of Our Children

Is An Extraordinary Power

It's Time To Take It Back

It is not always intentional, or malicious.

Often it is, but not always.

It really doesn’t matter though, does it, whether it’s intentional or not.

The fact is, it's every classroom, in every subject, every day.

How do we know?  Because our personal beliefs, values, and principles are present in everything we say or do.

Teachers are no different.  In the classroom, teachers will transfer their own beliefs and values to the students.  It is inevitable.

It will happen, whether the teacher intends it or not.

And if that teacher’s set of beliefs and values do not align with what we, as parents, are trying to instill in our children, then we must resist it.

If that teacher does not support the values and principles that are the foundation of our country and which provide our children with a sense of belonging and purpose, we must resist it.

The only other option is to relinquish our parental authority and allow our children to be led down whatever path their teachers wish.

That, of course, is no option at all.

is how we fight back

Education is not values-neutral.
The only question is which values are going to be advanced.
